Wordless{ish} Wednesday: A Berry Good Sunday

Sunday. Sun is shining. Winning already.

The family gets in the car with the intent to explore, soak up rays and eat. This is where our talents reside.

We find ourselves driving where the horizon is clear and where there are only fields dotted with newly harvested hay bales.

We sing along with the radio. There is a contagious mood of liberation being shared around.

I’m happy to find our little family-mobile has driven us right to a very special spot. It’s familiar. Once we fantasised about a barn style wedding at this location. It’s picture perfect. It is so deliciously country in a kinda House and Garden way. Even the name is exquisite: Gentle Annie Berry Gardens.

We are no sooner out of the car and Little Vick is commanding the expedition. The great berry hunt. We followed in tow, baby under arm.

We searched under leaves and scrutinised for vibrant fruit. Perfection was being sought.

Funny faces were pulled as delectable sour berries were stolen into mouths. Some survived into our basket.

When we consumed our maximum dose of Vitamin D we stole inside to the barn where we unknowingly ordered a feast of the most eye and belly pleasing goodies. It was foodie Heaven.

Perhaps it was something about the glorious sun, or the fresh air, or the sweet treats, or the happy little faces, or the foodie feast? I don’t know, but my heart was aglow. Gentle Annie introduction

  1. Seeing your pictures makes me long for spring. It’s been a tough winter here in New England and I can’t wait to take my boys strawberry picking in June!!

Yes, it’s beautiful to be out and about and enjoy the fruits of the season. We on the other side of the world are making the most of the very last few days of Summer.

  2. I would LOVE to visit there, fresh berries are one of my all-time fav foods. We used to pick them at my great aunties massive property, and we had raspberries at home, not many, but finding some hidden under the branches was the best score ever! Lovely pics x
